I was berry nervous for each of my teaching demo and final demo. I have tried to teach using the K-12 and MATATAG ways but unconsciously my lesson is leaning more to teacher-centered learning than student-centered learning. With the guidance of my cooperating teachers I have created the lesson plans with all the steps that I must include in creating Philippines lesson plan starting from prayer, attendance, greetings and so on.
Each sections or activities in the lesson plan had been given allocated time to maintain pace and student engagement. But alas, I run out of time in both final demo which thankfully I have already explained all the materials and just need to correct the answer together and give assignments for the last activities.
From my first teaching practice, I have tried to use more simpler terms for my students. But I have yet to give more examples for the students to learn from other than the one I have put in the PowerPoint. I also have noticed that game works best for the students to feel engaged. Other than that, I also needs to work on my classroom management by walking around more and handle any disruption in the class carefully.
Thankfully for the days of observations that requires me to stay in the school, I was able to get along well with my students and my cooperating teacher. For a shy person like me, it was the best method to get me out of my shell.
